Web2 for teachers
I offer a course which introduces Web2 to teachers and helps them see how these applications can be used in the classroom, alongside all the other things they do.
It’s a practical course so you’ll have hands on experience of:
Blogging – we will make a blog and start blogging
Wikis – we will open a Wiki and start collaborating
Twitter – we will definitely get you tweeting
Social Bookmarking – sharing [and searching for] the best web sites
Social Networking – keeping in touch
Social Mapping – Google maps and GoogleEarth – plotting personal and local content onto shared maps.
these all have powerful uses in motivating students to communicate and write – you will find them invaluable, and your students will think you’re cool.
and given time we can investigate some of the more useful applications that your students already use, and that you will be able to use Educationally -
Google Earth and maps – personalising maps
Podcasts and Vidcasts – broadcasting in sound and video
Social networking
This is offered as an in-school Inset probably for a day, but could be adapted [cut down] for a half day or twilight. Make sure your computer room has access to these applications first.
I could supply the booklets/CD separately for individual study – please ask for details.
