Animation workshop

This course introduces you to some simple computer animation techniques that you can use in any lessons, esp. Languages, Humanities, Science, English, DT and Art. Skills and techniques employed are suited to any Primary or Secondary teacher. Video files created can be placed on VLE’s for lesson resources.

The topic is best ‘taught’ by doing it – you will be making animations from plasticine and pasta etc, and given lots of idea to help you in your subject. Animation gets students engaged and is fairly low-tech. Some of the software is free – you just need a cheap camera.

You will be introduced to:

  • Graphic animation – using graphics software
  • Drawn animation
  • Stop frame animation
  • Pixillation
  • Video processed animation

You will need to bring a laptop or we can use your network room. I will provide the software – in advance if you wish.

These  are all simple but effective techniques that you can do in the classroom.

This course extensively uses simple PC software, [though I do have an animation package on a macbook. Mac users are only going to fully benefit if they have dual Mac/PC operating systems.]
