Podcasting

My Podcasting workshop is a popular course with ICT teachers and many NC. subject teachers. They are seeing the benefit of producing podcasted material for students and/or getting students to produce their own podcasts.

Podcasting  is a cheap and educationally beneficial activity using simple software and cheap microphones and cameras.

You will bring a laptop and I will supply software / microphones.

In hotels I cannot guarantee access to the Internet for you [I have my own solution for my laptop] and so I do not base the course on a guaranteed live internet link. Running the course in-school makes live access a reality and we can spend more time creating Podcasts. Wi-fi is generally available free in Leeds Weetwood, Ramada Jarvis’s [most], but Holiday Inn venues charge you 4£ for an hour.

We will:

• find out what Podcasting is, and how it has Educational benefits for Teachers, Schools/Colleges, and students.
• Use software to explore / create audio and video podcasts
• use software to find and subscribe to podcasts
• Look at a variety of solutions to suit School, Teachers, Students.
• Consider copyright, promotion/publicity, security issues.

I will provide a CD Rom [software, resources, exemplars] and a book [paper or PDF].

You will bring a suitable laptop [if we are not in a school network room with internet access].
