Scratch – simple free programming software

‘Scratch’ has been around for a few years and has been developed by MiT in the US. It’s a free download, and there’s a sharing website where lots of young people upload their work to show others [and from where you can download and study or remix them]. Go to scratch website

It uses a programming language which is easy enough to understand for a KS2 student to make a game or cartoon. The programming environment is output to a screen with sprites provided [or you can design your own].

It can get sophisticated enough for a KS4 student to be stretched.

I can run an introductory course for you, providing a booklet, and exemplar files to help you  and your students progress quickly.
